This series consists of correspondence, letters, memorandums, telegrams, notes, policy papers, draft treaties, briefing books, despatches, and press releases concerning the status of Japanese Peace Treaty negotiations and the greater U.S. security policy. Subjects covered include the situations in various Pacific countries and their government's view on the status of Japan after World War II. Some of the correspondents include John Foster Dulles, the Department of State, the White House, foreign governments, John M. Allison, and other government agencies. The records were created and maintained by John Foster Dulles, while he was serving as both the Consultant to the Secretary of State and the Special Representative of the President regarding the Japanese Peace Treaty. The records were transferred to the Office of Northeast Asian Affairs in 1953.
